Mumbai Police books TV star Munmun Dutta over casteist slur in her video

Mumbai police have registered a case against television actor Munmun Dutta for allegedly using a derogatory term against a communiy. A labour contractor Naresh Bohit filed a complaint after he watched a video of the actress using the word 'Bhangi.' DCP Chaitanya, spokesperson for Mumbai police said, "FIR registered at Amboli PS u/s 295A IPC, u/s 3 of Prevention of Atrocities against SC/ST Act on 26 May. Investigation is going on.'' 

For the unversed, the actress had released a video about make-up, which she had posted on a social media platform on May 9, in which she used a word for a specific community, police said.After the investigation, the FIR against the actor was registered on Wednesday.The actor was slammed for her remark, following which she had issued an apology on May 10, in which she said that she used the word due to her “language barrier”.Earlier, similar cases were registered against the actor in Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, police said. Munmun Dutta is a model and actress best known for playing Babita Iyer on long-running sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma.
