Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana Becomes The First Indian Film To Go Global With Over 10,000 Crew Members On Board!
Ramayana is already being hailed as the grandest cinematic spectacle of 2026, with anticipation reaching a fever pitch worldwide. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and backed by Namit Malhotra under Prime Focus Studios, in association with the Oscar-winning DNEG and Monster Mind Creations, the film is crafted as a monumental two-part global epic. With the film, Indian cinema is gearing up for one of its most ambitious cinematic spectacles ever, a film that is being created on a scale never witnessed before in the country.
What makes the project truly extraordinary is the sheer magnitude of its production. Over 10,000 crew members are reportedly working on the film, making it the largest crew ever assembled for an Indian movie. From production design and visual effects to action choreography and costume departments, the film has brought together talent from across the globe to build the world of this epic.
The makers have also onboarded several top international technicians and experts from different parts of the world to ensure the film matches global cinematic standards. With cutting-edge technology, massive sets, intricate world-building, and large-scale planning involved, Ramayana is being envisioned as a landmark event film rather than just another movie release.
Indian cinema has delivered many grand spectacles over the years, but a production mounted at this scale remains unprecedented. The film is expected to redefine how mythological stories are presented on the big screen and could potentially set a new benchmark for large-scale filmmaking in India.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in association with 8-time Oscar-winning DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, the two-part epic will be released in IMAX worldwide, Part 1 in Diwali 2026 and Part 2 in Diwali 2027.
