Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has approved the termination of two franchises of the Lanka Premier League (LPL).  The approval comes after IPG, the rights holders of the LPL, has recommended the dropping of the two sides because of payment defaults and other allegations. Sachin Joshi is a Bollywood star as well as an Indian businessman. Murfad Mustafa is Dubai-based businessman from Kerala. Colombo Kings and Dambulla Viiking had finished as the top two teams in the league stage of the 2020 edition of the LPL, although both teams ending up on the losing side in the semifinals. Joshi had bought the Kingfisher Villa in Goa, which was previously owned by Vijay Mallya.

Married to model and actress Urvashi Sharma, Sachin Joshi has starred in many Telugu and Kannada films besides some films in Bollywood as well. He made his debut in the 2002 Telugu film Mounamelanoyi and went on to star in two more Telugu films, Ninu Chudaka Nenundalenu (2002) and Orey Pandu (2005). He did not star in films again until 2011, when he performed as the titular lead character in the Hindi film Aazaan, which he also co-produced. This marked his debut in Hindi film. Joshi returned to Tollywood with the remake of Aashiqui 2 and reprised the role played by Aditya Roy Kapur in the Hindi version. He co-starred with Nazia Hussain, who made her debut with Aashiqui 2. Joshi was also a lead in the 2013 film Jackpot, in which he starred opposite Sunny Leone and Naseeruddin Shah. In February The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had arrested Sachin Joshi in connection with a money laundering case against the city-based Omkar Realtors and Developers.
