Saiee M Manjrekar On Adapting to Pre-Independence Role in ‘India House’: ‘You Have to Slow Down as an Actor’

Actress Saiee M Manjrekar is exploring a different cinematic space with her upcoming film India House, which is produced by Ram Charan in the lead. Set in the pre-independence era, the film places its narrative against a significant moment in history, offering a distinct visual and emotional landscape. Saiee, whose look from the film has already been revealed, shared her experience of working on a project rooted in a different time period.

Reflecting on the process, she said, “Working on a film based in a different era, the time period is very interesting. There’s a different texture, language, art, fashion that is truly exciting to be on sets for. It makes you slow down and observe things differently as an actor, because everything from the way people spoke to how they expressed emotions was so different. Even the costumes and the overall environment help you stay in that world, and that really adds to the performance. For me, it has been a learning experience to understand that mindset and bring that honesty into the character.”

The film’s setting brings with it a detailed recreation of the pre-independence world, from costumes to dialogue, requiring the cast to adapt to a different rhythm of storytelling. For Saiee, this shift has been both engaging and immersive as she steps into a character shaped by that era.
With India House generating early curiosity, especially with its visual elements and historical backdrop, Saiee’s presence in the film marks another step in her evolving filmography.
