Drinking Black Coffee at Night? Here’s How It Affects Your Sleep and Health
Coffee is one of the most consume beverage after tea. In recent times, the number of coffee drinkers has increased significantly. Some people prefer coffee with milk, while others opt for black coffee. The proportion of black coffee drinkers is particularly high, largely because black coffee offers numerous health benefits. You may have observed many coffee enthusiasts who consume coffee multiple times throughout the day.
Some individuals even drink coffee immediately upon waking up in the morning and right before going to bed at night. However, drinking coffee at night can be detrimental to one's health.
According to health experts, one should avoid consuming coffee after the evening hours, as it can have negative effects on the body during that time. The caffeine present in coffee blocks a chemical in the brain known as adenosine. Consequently, it takes longer to fall asleep, or sleep becomes frequently interrupted. Even if you do manage to fall asleep, the quality of "deep sleep" is compromised, leading to feelings of fatigue in the morning.
Anxiety and Restlessness: The quiet solitude of the night often triggers overthinking. In such instances, caffeine can accelerate the heart rate. This can lead to feelings of nervousness, trembling in the hands and feet, and a general sense of restlessness.
Digestive Issues: Black coffee is acidic in nature. Consuming it at night or on an empty stomach can trigger acidity and heartburn. Furthermore, it may exacerbate digestive issues such as gas and constipation.
