The Karnataka Health Department is fine-tuning Covid-19 data reporting to avoid errors, according to an official, here on Thursday. "Confusion at the surveillance and critical care support units led to errors," a health official told .

He said both the units should coordinate and verify a patient's number, address, comorbidities and the cause of death before presenting the data to the Health Department that compiled the daily Covid-19 bulletins.

"It was confusion at that level. Today (Thursday), I think, they have settled it," he said.

According to the official, reporting of eight Covid-19 deaths on Wednesday was correct but the patients' names got mixed up. Similarly, on more than one occasion, data in the bulletin did diverge from earlier bulletins.

Many times, the state government's official Covid-19 website was not in sync with the daily bulletins, lagging in presenting up-to-date info.

Initially, the state disseminated information through two bulletins a day one at 12 p.m. and the final at 5 p.m. But it stopped the morning bulletin and is releasing only evening bulletin, capturing all the virus information for the past 24 hours.
