Islamabad, Sep 18 At least 16 more educational institutions in Pakistan were closed in the last 24 hours due to non-compliance of health guidelines or standard operating procedures amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) said on Friday.

Of the 16, 13 were in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and three in Sindh, The Express Tribune reported.

A day earlier, at least 22 educational institutions were closed due to the same reasons, according to the NCOC.

The educational institutions re-opened on Tuesday after they were closed in March due to the outbreak of Covid-19 virus.

The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) in Karachi had been closed for two days after the emergence of a Covid-19 case on Wednesday.

Sources told The Express Tribune that the first case emerged in the hostel of the IBA's Karachi University campus.

The affected student had recently joined the university from Islamabad and had been taking classes along with other students.

Earlier it was reported that a day after schools resumed in the province, at least eight teachers of a government-run school in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa tested positive for the virus.
