At least four were killed and 17 others were injured after a tanker truck carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) exploded after crashing on Thursday, February 19, in Santiago, Chile. The horrific video of the incident surfaced on social media sites, showing a fireball engulfing vehicles on the busy highway.
The tanker, reportedly carrying LPG from a terminal in Quintero, a coastal city in Chile's Valparaiso region, about 160 kilometres (nearly 100 miles) northwest of Santiago, to Gasco's Maipu plant, the company's main LPG facility, according to an AA report.

The accident occurred when the vehicle lost control, overturned, and hit roadside barriers and other vehicles, leading to the leakage of flammable gas that erupted into a massive fireball. The truck belonged to a local gas supply company, Gasco. Emergency services, including police, firefighters, ambulance and traffic police, reached the spot. Firefighters took an hour to douse the blaze.

According to a local police chief, the driver lost control and crashed, which led to the explosion.

A video of the incident, which has gone viral, shows a truck overturned and slamming into a barricade,s which has caused leakage of gas that has spread within seconds on the road and later turned into a fireball.
