Chinese mainland reported 2,119 locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, of which 1,931 were in Shanghai, according to the National Health Commission's report Friday.
As per the commission, a total of 2,730 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours.
On Wednesday, China recorded 2,830 locally transmitted confirmed cases.
Of these new locally transmitted cases, China's economic hub Shanghai reported 2,634 cases and 15,861 local asymptomatic infections, Xinhua reported.
