Jewellery worth over 470 cr stolen from Tamara Ecclestone's home

The jewellery worth 50 million pounds (over Rs 470 crore) were stolen the from house of Tamara Ecclestone, the daughter of former F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone in London.

The burglars raided her house on the Friday night, as Tamara left the country for her Christmas holidays.

Thieves are believed to have entered through the garden before breaking into safes hidden in the her bedroom, reports the Sun.

According to the Sun, they fled with items including precious rings, earrings and a 80,000 pounds Cartier bangle given to her as a wedding present.

"I can sadly confirm there has been a home invasion. Internal security are cooperating with police in this matter," a spokesperson for Ecclestone was quoted as saying.

"Tamara and family are well but obviously angry and shaken by the incident. If anyone has information that could help in investigations then please call the police on 101 quoting reference 8786/13DEC19," spokesperson said.

According to the reports, three thieves were able to smash open several bedroom safes and fled via an open window despite a guard sitting in a CCTV room and the 57-room mansion being on an exclusive street boasting 24-hour security patrols and multiple checkpoints.

"Police were called to a residential property in Palace Green, W8, at 23.11hrs on Friday 13 December, to reports of a burglar," the police spokesperson said.

"Officers attended. It was reported that an amount of jewellery had been stolen. There have been no arrests. Enquiries continue," spokesperson added.
