Nancy Guthrie Case Update: One Detained for Questioning in Kidnapping of Savannah's Mother, Say Reports
A man was detained by law enforcement agencies on Tuesday for questioning in the kidnapping case of journalist Savannah Guthrie's mother, Nancy Guthrie, an official told ABC News. A person of interest has been detained by the Pima County Sheriff's Office in the abduction of Savannah Guthrie's mom, Nancy. A law enforcement source involved in the investigation tells us it is not a member of the Guthrie family, TMZ reported.
Pima County Sheriff's Department in Arizona confirms deputies detained a subject during a traffic stop south of Tucson. "Earlier today, Pima County Sheriff's Department deputies detained a subject during a traffic stop south of Tucson. The subject is currently being questioned in connection to the Nancy Guthrie investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available," said Chris Nanos, Sheriff.
“Without polluting the investigation, I will say we have made substantial progress in these last 36-48 hours, thanks to the technical capabilities of the FBI and our partnerships and I do believe we are looking at people who, as we say, are persons of interest,” FBI Director Kash Patel told The Post.
Earlier on Tuesday, Kash Patel released new doorbell footage from Guthrie's residence in Tucson, Arizona, which shows an unidentified man wearing a mask and carrying a weapon. Patel, in a post, said new images and footage were found during the intense search operation for missing Nancy Guthrie.
Kash Patel alleged that the footage of the doorbell camera was "corrupted or inaccessible" to remove the recording device. He saidthat with the help of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the private sector, it took 8 days to recover "any images or video footage."

Over the last eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working closely with our private sector partners to continue to recover any images or video footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home that may have been lost,… pic.twitter.com/z5WLgPtZpT
"The video was recovered from residual data located in backend systems," Patel said in a post on X. "Working with our partners - as of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie's front door the morning of her disappearance. Anyone with information, please contact 1-800-CALL-FBI," he added.
