Nancy Guthrie Kidnapping Case: Woman Says Police Handcuffed Her Son Playing Nintendo During Rio Rico Search
Law enforcement officials in Arizona have detained a man for questioning in connection with the possible kidnapping of journalist Savannah Guthrie's mother, Nancy, following a search operation by law enforcement agencies and police in a Rio Rico residential neighbourhood. The development marks a potential breakthrough in the investigation, though police have not revealed information regarding the suspect’s specific link to the case.
In the aftermath of the detention, a local mother spoke to CNN regarding the conduct of the officers involved in the search. She alleged that tactical teams used forced entry to gain access to her home, causing significant damage.

"They broke my door. They went inside," the resident stated. She described a distressing scene involving her son, who was unaware of the police presence due to wearing headphones while gaming. "My son was playing on his Nintendo. He had his headphones on. They put him in handcuffs and took him outside."
The operation, which involved a large tactical presence, has drawn scrutiny after a local resident claimed her teenage son was handcuffed during a heavy-handed search of her property. It remains unclear whether the mother’s home was the primary target of the investigation or if the individual detained had a connection to the address.

Reports from the scene indicate that the individual taken into custody was working as a delivery driver at the time of the police intervention. According to NewsNation, the subject was delivering for the food-service app DoorDash when he was intercepted by law enforcement.
While the individual has been detained for formal questioning, authorities have not yet confirmed if he is being treated as a prime suspect or a person of interest. The Nancy Guthrie investigation has remained a high priority for local and federal agencies since she was reported missing earlier this month.
Earlier on Tuesday, Kash Patel released new doorbell footage from Guthrie's residence in Tucson, Arizona, which shows an unidentified man wearing a mask and carrying a weapon. Patel, in a post, said new images and footage were found during the intense search operation for missing Nancy Guthrie.
