Richard Branson’s Virgin Hyperloop has completed the world’s first passenger ride on a hyperloop pod. Virgin Hyperloop executives – Josh Giegel, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer, and Sara Luchian, Director of Passenger Experience, were the first people to ride on this levitating superpod.

“For the past few years, the Virgin Hyperloop team has been working on turning its groundbreaking technology into reality,” said Sir Richard Branson, Founder of the Virgin Group. “With today’s successful test, we have shown that this spirit of innovation will in fact change the way people everywhere live, work, and travel in the years to come.”

Where exactly did the ride take place?Virgin Hyperloop’s 500-meter DevLoop test site in Las Vegas, the company claimed. The pod reached speed up to 107 miles per hour (172 km per hour) at the test site.

Hyperloop can attain hyper-sonic speeds of 600-700 kmph. Slated to be a global first, the Hyperloop concept aims to allow hypersonic transport via a pod moving inside a vacuum tube.
