A shocking incident of workplace jealousy has emerged from Goiás, Brazil, where a woman allegedly attempted to kill her colleague by poisoning her water bottle after an argument over a promotion. The incident took place at a textile company in the Abadiânia de Goiás area. According to reports, the accused, a 38-year-old woman, was caught on CCTV tampering with the victim’s water bottle.

Shortly after consuming the water, the victim experienced a severe burning sensation in her throat and was rushed to the hospital. Medical tests confirmed that she had ingested a dangerous chemical that could have been fatal.  Investigations revealed that the accused and the victim were once good friends. However, tensions arose when the victim received a promotion, leading to disputes between the two. Enraged by the situation, the accused allegedly stole a toxic chemical and plotted to harm her colleague.

The authorities arrested the accused on February 27 after reviewing the CCTV footage, which clearly showed her tampering with the water bottle. During interrogation, she confessed to her crime, citing anger and frustration as her motives.

The woman now faces attempted murder charges, which could result in a sentence of 6 to 20 years in prison. The case serves as a grim reminder of how workplace jealousy can escalate into extreme and dangerous actions.
