2020 may not have given us all the reason to wear makeup but the silver lining of having to spend most of the last year at home is that it's given us more time to experiment with makeup colors you usually don’t wear. The makeup trends of 2021 are going to be heavy on the eyes (considering we're still going to be wearing face masks), but there's also looks that cover all the bases. As we focus more on our skin-care routines as a form of self-care, celebrity hair and makeup artist Malcolm Fernandes decodes the upcoming makeup trends of 2021. Malcolm who has worked with some of leading names like Pooja Chopra, Shweta Bachchan, Swara Bhaskar, Hina Khan, and Erica Fernandes predicts a big shift in makeup trends amid COVID times. 

 

Dewy Skin Tints

As we focus more on our skin, dewy skin tints are rising to the occasion. tinted moisturizers and BB creams. With their glowing, barely-there finish are something to look out for.

The ‘No-Makeup Makeup’ Trend

The no makeup makeup certainly isn’t going anywhere as we head into 2021, but a minimal vibe can start to feel a little repetitive, While 2020 gave us a breather to do away with make-up for a while, online work video calls led to a desire to opt for the ‘No makeup makeup’ look. 

Stained Lip Color

While lip stains get a bad rap for drying out lips, many of today's formulas contain hydrating ingredients that prevent the color from settling into lip lines or flaking. With color-changing formulas, oil-stain hybrids, and cheek-and-lip combos which makes it easy to use in a day to day life, lip cheek stains might be the top beauty trend this year.

Graphic Eyeliner

It is all about the eyes and always has been and  you've probably seen graphic eyeliner looks all over Internet, thanks to people getting creative with their eye makeup in response to face masks covering the lower half of our faces for most of 2020. This year, sharp lines are still going strong, whether it's a classic cat eye or a '60s-inspired negative space liner, Yes its time to vamp up your lids with striking lines this year.

Colored Mascara 

You have seen colorful eyeliner all over, so it's only natural that unexpected shades of mascara will be a big trend  trend in 2021
