The entertainment industry was the worst effected sector during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, actress Rima Kallingal has announced  that curtains are coming down on Mamangam studio, which is run by her.  The dance studio and performance space that has put up several productions was a well-known art joint in Kochi. Announcing the shutdown in a social media post, and thanking the patrons, supporters and students, the actor wrote, “I have decided to close down the Mamangam studios and the dance classes wing after the corona fiasco hit us. It was a labour of love and there are so many memories associated with this place. The high energy dance classes, dance rehearsals, film screenings, workshops, flood relief collection camps, debates and discussions, shootings, everything will always echo in all our hearts. I would like to thank every single one person who has stood by me in putting this place together.“

The actress also made it clear that there will no dance class from now but the stage shows under the name of their dance company will continue in the future. "The Mamangam Dance Company will take this journey forward on stage and screens," Rima Kallingal stated. Rima, wife of director Aashiq Abu, started her dance school ‘Mamangam’ in 2014.
