Ramadan 2025 Moon Sighting in Saudi Arabia: Supreme Court Calls Muslims of Kingdom To Search for Crescent Moon
The Supreme Court of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) on Wednesday asked its citizens to search for the crescent moon of Ramadan 2025 on the evening of Friday, February 28, 2025, which is the 29th of Sha'ban 1446 AH. The court also urged astronomers and weather experts to sight the moon for the upcoming holy month of Ramzan.
The sighting of a crescent moon marks the beginning of Ramadan 2025 and the conclusion of the month of Sha'aban. If the moon is sighted on Friday, February 28, 2025, in KSA, then the holy month of Ramadan will begin, and the first day of fasting (also known as Roza in India) will be on March 1, 2025, in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Dubai, and other Gulf nations.

The holy month of Ramzan has so far been predicted to begin on March 1, 2025, in Gulf countries, including UAE, Oman, and Bahrain. However, the first day of Ramadan will only be confirmed once the crescent is sighted. The Moon-sighting committee will be meeting tomorrow night in the Kingdom to spot the Ramadan crescent a little after sunset (After Maghrib prayers). Usually, the moon is first sighted in the Gulf countries, then by South Asian nations, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, etc.

Ramadan is the holy month of fasting, praying, reading and listening to the Quran, the holy book of Islam revealed in this blessed month. It is the ninth of the Islamic calendar after Sha'aban and the most special month in Islam. In the month of Ramadan, Muslims do more charity (Zakat) and refrain from eating or drinking during daylight hours while fasting. The fasting days are 29 or 30 depending on the Eid-ul-Fitr month sighting and the conclusion of Ramadan month.
