A 25-year-old man allegedly slit his own throat at a temple and poured his blood on a 'shivling' on Friday. The man was found dead at the Mahadev temple in Paithan town, Maharashtra. The police suspect that the man took the drastic step as part of an Aghori practice. The deceased man was identified as Nandu Ghungase. Ghungase was a fisherman from Kaharwad village. Four persons bore witness to the man's steps on the day of the incident. The incident took place at a temple located near the Siddhi Ali dargah in Gagabhatt Chowk of Paithan town. A man identified as Bihari Pardeshi went to the temple to offer his prayers on the day of the incident and found Ghungase's body. 

Pardeshi then raised an alarm and the cops were alerted about the case. The police took Ghungase's body to a hospital where he was declared brought dead, The Times of India reported. One of the eyewitnesses said that the man slit his throat in the temple and poured his blood on a shivling. The eyewitness said that none of them rushed to stop the fisherman as they feared being blamed for his death. Initially, the eyewitnesses were not willing to reveal the details of the incident but one of them later shared the same with the police. The police cross-checked the statements of the eyewitnesses to ascertain the series of events. It was suspected that the man took the drastic step for an Aghori practice.
