Amravati Sexual Assault Case: Court Sends 4 Accused to Police Custody Till April 27; Ayaan Ahmed Seen Limping

The main accused in the Paratwada sexual exploitation case, Ayaan Ahmed, was seen limping while being escorted by police on April 22, even as a court in Achalpur extended his custody along with three co-accused till April 27. A video shared by News18 Marathi showed Ahmed struggling to walk as he was brought under heavy police security. It remains unclear whether he was injured or facing difficulty in movement, but the visuals quickly went viral on social media, drawing widespread public attention as the investigation into the case continues to intensify.

Ahmed, along with co-accused Uzer Khan, Mohammad Saad and Tabrez Khan, was produced before the sessions court amid unprecedented security arrangements. Authorities ensured strict measures, including drone surveillance, barricaded routes and deployment of riot control personnel, to maintain law and order during the hearing. The court ordered that all four accused remain in police custody until April 27. The heavy security presence highlighted the seriousness of the case and the tense atmosphere surrounding the proceedings, as officials remained cautious to prevent any untoward incident.

The case involves serious allegations of sexual exploitation of over 180 minor girls in the Paratwada area, with the accused allegedly recording over 350 obscene videos. During the investigation, police seized multiple electronic devices, including mobile phones, a laptop, a tablet and a hard disk, which have been sent for forensic analysis. According to the prosecution, authorities have recovered 18 videos and 39 photographs so far, involving at least eight survivors. These findings are considered crucial evidence and are expected to play a significant role in establishing the extent and nature of the alleged offences.

Public prosecutor Dhanraj Navale told the court that custodial interrogation of the accused is still incomplete, and further analysis of digital evidence, social media activity and financial transactions is required to uncover the full extent of the network. The prosecution also raised concerns regarding the source of funds behind Ahmed’s possession of a luxury SUV and a weapon allegedly recovered from it. According to a Times of India report, defence counsel Waqar Ahmad opposed the extension of custody, arguing that police had already been given sufficient time but failed to recover substantial evidence, and claimed that the alleged weapon was an air gun used for agricultural purposes.

While granting further custody, the court criticised the slow pace of the investigation and pulled up the police for delays in progress. It directed the authorities to present concrete and substantial evidence at the next hearing. Meanwhile, police have appealed to survivors and their families to come forward without fear, assuring them of confidentiality and legal protection as the probe continues. Officials emphasised that cooperation from victims and witnesses will be crucial in ensuring justice and uncovering the full scope of the alleged sexual exploitation network.
