Days after actress Payal Ghosh levelled MeToo allegations against filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, Ghosh met Republican Party of India (RPI) chief and Rajya Sabha MP Ramdas Athawale in connection with the case.

Ghosh demanded Kashyap's arrest and recently said that Mumbai Police is not investigating the matter in a speedy manner despite registering an FIR, just because he is an 'influential person'.

On Monday, Payal, her lawyer, and Ramdas Athawale held a press conference. The Rajya Sabha MP had earlier promised the actress security.Athawale said, "She has dared to complain against Anurag Kashyap. Many actors came out in support of him, but Kashyap hasn't assaulted them. This is about Payal Ghosh and her experience. She will get protection from my party. We are hoping for action against the accused soon. I will be writing to Amit Shah soon. Kashyap should be arrested soon."

Charges against Kashyap in the FIR include rape, wrongful restrain, wrongful confinement and outraging modesty of a woman.

Payal in an interview claimed that Kashyap stripped off in front of her and tried to molest her in 2014.

However, Anurag Kashyap has denied all the allegations made by Ghosh. In a series of tweets, he had said, “It took so long to silence me. It’s okay. In an attempt to silence me, you ended up lying so much that you have dragged other women despite being a woman yourself. Maintain some decorum, madam. I just want to say that whatever your accusations are, they are baseless.”
