The strike of Asha workers in the Maharashtra has finally ended. Health Minister Rajesh Tope again called a meeting of the office bearers of the action committee regarding the strike of the nurses. During the meeting, it was decided to give Asha a fixed honorarium increase of Rs.1000 and Rs.500 covid allowance from July 1, 2021. After the meeting with the health minister, the strike was called off, officials said.

The Asha workers had gone on strike, saying that the government should accept our demands instead of just calling them covid warriors. Also, an indefinite agitation was warned by Asha workers if their demands were not met. The strike, called by Asha workers during the Covid pandemic, was expected to affect patients. However, the strike was called off after a meeting with the health minister.

More than 72,000 Asha workers in the state had gone on strike. Meanwhile, discussions have been going on for the last two days between Asha Workers Union office bearers and the health minister to find a solution to the strike called by Asha workers across the state. Since the Asha workers went on strike, there have been three meetings between Asha Workers Union office bearers and the health minister. Health Minister Rajesh Tope said the strike was called off after Asha workers were assured that the fixed wage would be increased to Rs 1,000 from July 1.
