BJP-led Mahayuti to Elect Mayors in KDMC, Ulhasnagar and Thane Civic Bodies After Devendra Fadnavis Returns From Davos
The ruling Mahayuti alliance has announced its intention to install mayors from within the coalition in the crucial municipal corporations of Kalyan-Dombivli (KDMC), Ulhasnagar, and Thane. The decision, confirmed by BJP State President Ravindra Chavan, after getting a majority in the local body elections held on January 15.
Ravindra Chavan stated that the results in these three major civic bodies reflect a clear mandate for the Mahayuti's development agenda. In the 122-seat Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC), the alliance secured a robust majority with the Shinde-led Shiv Sena winning 53 seats and the BJP claiming 50.
"The final decision will be taken after Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis returns from Davos, followed by a joint meeting with Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde," said Chavan, reported the news agency IANS.

A final decision is expected only after Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis returns from the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. Following his return, a high-level joint meeting will be convened with Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and other alliance partners to finalise the candidates and power-sharing ratios for each city.
Earlier in the day, MNS extended support to Shiv Sena Shinde in the Kalyan–Dombivli Municipal Corporation to elect the mayor. Former MNS MLA Pramod (Raju) Patil announced the decision on behalf of the party’s five corporators.
