The recovery rate of corona patients in Maharashtra has now reached 93 percent and the positivity rate has come down to 12 percent, state health minister Rajesh Tope told media today. He was speaking after a review meeting on corona in the state. Rajesh Tope informed about some important decisions taken in the meeting.

Although the number of corona patients is declining, the state government is making every effort to bring it under complete control and an important decision regarding corona testing was taken at the meeting, Tope said. Strict instructions have now been issued to completely stop corona testing of anyone in the state. Corona tests will be performed only on high risk and low risk individuals who have come in contact with a covid infected person. Rajesh Tope informed that corona testing in some places affects the positivity rate.

The contribution of Asha workers in the context of Corona in the state has remained very important. Rajesh Tope said that a decision was taken in the meeting to provide them help by  training them for Rapid Antigen Test.

Apart from this, the state government is keeping a close eye on all these developments as the risk of mucormycosis cases are increasing along with the rising covid cases, Tope said. There are currently 131 hospitals in the state treating mucormycosis and this will increase in the near future. Rajesh Tope also announced that the treatment on mucormycosis is being done completely free of cost. A global tender has also been issued for the shortage of drugs required for treating mucormycosis. At the same time, Rajesh Tope has appealed to the people not to ignore any symptoms related to mucormycosis infection.
