Rising traffic violations: Mumbai traffic police issues notices to 17 lakh motorists

The Mumbai Traffic Police has issued notices to individuals whose vehicles were found in violation of traffic regulations, demanding payment of the accumulated fines. The cases of those who have not settled their outstanding fines were brought before the Lok Adalat on Saturday for further action.

The Police has undertaken proactive measures, issuing notices to a staggering 17,10,519 motorists found violating traffic regulations. As part of an initiative to expedite the resolution process, drivers who have yet to address their fines online are required to appear before the Lok Adalat, scheduled for Saturday in December.

The enforcement of traffic regulations is being rigorously pursued through the One State One e-challan system, wherein drivers found in violation receive notifications on their mobile phones prompting them to settle fines for their offenses. Despite these efforts, a significant number of drivers have yet to fulfill their financial obligations. The District Legal Services Authority, Mumbai, has issued notices to a total of 17,10,519 motorists, urging them to promptly clear their pending fines. In an appeal to the concerned vehicle owners and drivers, the traffic police emphasize the convenience of settling fines through various channels, including the online portal, Mumtraffic App mobile app, net banking, or by visiting the nearest traffic police department. Compliance with this request is encouraged for a swift resolution of outstanding penalties.
