Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) chief and former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray released the party's manifesto titled 'Vachan Nama' for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 during a press conference at his Mumbai residence on Thursday.

The manifesto details a wide range of promises aimed at tackling critical issues, including economic development and environmental conservation. Among the key commitments, the party pledges to establish a new financial center in Mumbai and prioritize job creation and employment opportunities for rural youth at the district level.

Thackeray announced plans to waive farm loans and revise conditions related to crop insurance. Additionally, agricultural equipment and seeds will be exempted from GST (Goods and Services Tax). The party aims to amend GST in collaboration with experts to mitigate "tax terrorism" and ensure a fair taxation system.

In the agricultural sector, the Shiv Sena (UBT) proposed the creation of a new research wing within the agriculture department to provide farmers with expert guidance on crop selection for better market opportunities.

Environmental conservation is also a key focus, with the manifesto stipulating the development of only eco-friendly projects and industries in Maharashtra. The party committed to controlling prices of five essential goods for the next five years.

The manifesto's release precedes voting in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections, with eight seats in Maharashtra scheduled for voting on Friday. Polling will be conducted from 7 am to 6 pm across 16,589 polling centers in Buldhana, Akola, Amravati, Wardha, Yavatmal-Washim, Hingoli, Nanded, and Parbhani constituencies.
