Vasai Virar Municipal Election Results 2026: BVA Strongman and Former Mayor Rupesh Jadhav Defeated in Ward 21

In a significant political development from the Vasai–Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC) elections, Rupesh Jadhav, a senior leader of the Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) and former mayor, has suffered a narrow defeat, losing his seat by just 75 votes. Jadhav was defeated by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Vishal Jadhav in what turned out to be one of the closest contests of the civic elections. The razor-thin margin has made the result a major talking point, especially given Rupesh Jadhav’s stature and long-standing influence in the region.

Despite Jadhav’s loss, the BVA retained overall control of the VVMC, winning 71 out of 115 seats and securing a clear majority. The BJP emerged as the second-largest party with 43 seats, marking its strongest performance in the civic body to date. Political observers see Rupesh Jadhav’s defeat as a symbolic setback for the BVA, even as the party continues to dominate the civic administration under the leadership of Hitendra Thakur.
