The Bachelor of Mass Media (BMM) department of Mumbai’s Jai Hind College recently launched its annual cultural festival, Detour 2025, marking the 17th edition of the much-awaited mass media conclave. This year’s theme, “The Wingman Show”, celebrates the unsung heroes of our favourite stories—the sidekicks and supporting characters who often steal the spotlight with their charm and impact.

The festival kicked off on January 20, setting the stage for what promises to be the biggest and most vibrant edition yet, with an impressive lineup of events, performances, judges, and promotions. Contingents from over 20 colleges across the city participated with high energy and enthusiasm, turning the campus into a hub of creativity and competition.

The first day featured a diverse range of events, including a lipsync battle, street dance performances, a self-made escape room, and the iconic fashion show judged by Shreya Gulati, Valena, and Tanaya Gupta. Adding to the excitement, the promotional panel was graced by the beloved and iconic Rani Mukerji, who joined Rotalks to celebrate 30 years of her illustrious career. Her presence, combined with her singing and inspiring words, created a memorable experience for the audience. In a first for Detour, the festival also welcomed students from outside the media field with a JAM event, judged by the renowned Hormuz Ragina, known as the “God of JAM.” The event concluded the first day on a high note with laughter, entertainment, and valuable learning, setting a promising tone for the rest of the festival.
