In another recent example of honesty, a Station Manager and his railway team at Kalyan helped reunite a passenger with lost belongings containing cash and jewellery worth several lakhs. Officials found a jacket and a suspicious bag near the Head Booking Clerkโs office and immediately informed the Deputy Station Manager on duty. Upon inspection, the bag was discovered to contain Rs 12,060 in cash along with jewellery valued at nearly Rs 4 lakh. With assistance from the Railway Protection Force, the passenger was traced to Kasara. After verifying ownership details, railway officials safely returned all the belongings, highlighting their commitment towards duty and passenger safety.
A similar incident had also taken place last year when another auto-rickshaw driver returned gold ornaments worth around Rs 16 lakh to a passenger in Navi Mumbai. The driver was operating on the VashiโJuhugaon route when he noticed a bag left behind inside the vehicle. On checking, he found valuable items including a mangalsutra, rings, anklets and several gold ornaments. Instead of misusing the valuables, the driver informed the local rickshaw union and contacted the police for assistance. Authorities later traced the owner and returned the jewellery safely. The incident was widely appreciated and once again highlighted the honesty shown by several public transport workers.
