Raising serious questions over law and order in Mumbai, a shocking incident has come to light in which the personal bodyguard of BJP MLA Ram Kadam was allegedly attacked at gunpoint in broad daylight. The incident took place in the Parksite area of Vikhroli West, where the bodyguard sustained serious injuries to his head and face. The Parksite police have registered a case against the main accused and others, and intensified the investigation.
According to the police, the victim has been identified as Mahendra Pralhad Yadav (47), a resident of Ghatkopar West, who has been working as the personal bodyguard of MLA Ram Kadam since 2009. On January 15, at around 1 pm, Yadav was walking through Sevgiri Society along with his acquaintance Sakhahari Bhaguji Datir. At that time, two unidentified youths stopped them and began asking for an address. Shortly after Yadav provided the details, the youths made a phone call and summoned their associates to the spot.
Within a few minutes, Ajay Mandalik, his associate Prashant Dhumal, and several other youths arrived. The victim stated that he was already acquainted with Ajay Mandalik and Prashant Dhumal. It is alleged that Ajay Mandalik suddenly pulled out a revolver and pointed it at Yadav’s face, questioning him about his presence in the area. Following this, the accused allegedly assaulted Yadav with punches and kicks. During the attack, Mandalik is said to have struck Yadav on the back of the head with the same weapon, causing serious injuries.
When Sakhahari Datir attempted to intervene, the accused allegedly threatened him with dire consequences, forcing him to step back. After the assault, the attackers fled the scene. Despite his critical condition, Yadav managed to reach his home and sought private medical treatment. After his condition stabilised, he approached the police station and lodged a complaint.
The Parksite police have registered a case against Ajay Mandalik, Prashant Dhumal, and other unidentified persons under sections related to assault, criminal intimidation, and attacking with a weapon. Police are also probing whether the revolver used in the incident was real or fake. Senior police officials said that the accused have been identified and will be arrested soon.
