Mithi River Dredging: BMC Dismisses Allegations, Calls Claims Baseless

Mumbai– The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has refuted allegations of irregularities in the tender process for dredging the Mithi River. The civic body issued a statement asserting that these claims, circulating in the media, are baseless and misleading.

According to the BMC, the tender includes specific technical requirements to ensure efficient dredging. Given the river’s width at various points, the contract mandates the use of a 35-meter-long boom and an excavator with a 1.5 cubic meter capacity bucket for effective sludge removal.

The BMC clarified that the tender process has not yet been finalized. Meanwhile, some bidders have challenged the criteria in the Bombay High Court, making the matter sub judice. The next hearing is scheduled for March 4, 2025, after which the BMC will proceed as per the court's directives.

The civic body urged citizens not to fall for misinformation and assured transparency in the project execution.
