In a shocking incident reported from Vile Parle, a 24-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by his brother-in-law when he intervened to stop a domestic dispute between his sister and her husband. The incident took place on Sunday night in the Shastri Nagar area of Vile Parle East.
The deceased has been identified as Sagar Gupta (24), a resident of Shastri Nagar in Vile Parle East, where he lived with his family. His married sister resides in the same locality with her husband, Akash Maurya.
According to police officials, the couple frequently argued over domestic issues. On March 1, at around 10 pm, Sagar had visited his sister’s residence. During his visit, another argument broke out between the husband and wife, reportedly over a trivial issue related to dinner.
Sagar attempted to mediate and calm the situation. However, the accused allegedly became aggressive during the altercation. As the argument escalated, he reportedly threatened to kill Sagar and attacked him with a sharp weapon, stabbing him in the neck.
Sagar sustained grievous injuries and suffered heavy blood loss. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Following the incident, the complainant — Sagar’s mother — approached the police and lodged a complaint against her son-in-law. Based on her statement, the Airport Police have registered a case of murder under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and arrested the accused.
Further investigation in the case is underway under the supervision of Police Sub-Inspector Swapnil Dalvi.
