A shocking case of alleged extortion and blackmail has surfaced from Jogeshwari, where a doctor attached to a trauma care hospital was allegedly threatened by a four-member gang demanding Rs 15 lakh. The accused allegedly threatened to upload an old video of the doctor on social media and defame him if the money was not paid.

The Jogeshwari Police have registered a case against all four accused, including one woman and three men, under charges related to extortion and criminal intimidation. Police have launched a special operation to trace and arrest the accused.

According to police, the 45-year-old complainant is a doctor residing in the Gorai area of Borivali and has been serving as an officer at a trauma care hospital in Jogeshwari for the past one year. As part of his official duties, he used to upload vaccination and fitness certificate details of Haj pilgrims on the Haj portal through his login ID.

The incident took place on May 6 while the doctor was working at the hospital. During this time, four individuals — including a woman and three men — allegedly entered his office and showed him an old video clip. In the video, the doctor was seen sitting in a café and working on his laptop.

The accused allegedly told him that he was doing “wrong work” and claimed that government-related work could not be carried out from a private place. After issuing the warning, the group left the hospital premises.

A short while later, one of the accused reportedly returned to the doctor’s cabin and introduced himself as “Suryavanshi.” He allegedly demanded Rs 15 lakh from the doctor and threatened to make the video viral on social media to tarnish his image if the amount was not paid.

The accused allegedly warned the doctor to respond within an hour regarding the payment, failing which he would face serious consequences. Thereafter, the complainant reportedly received repeated threatening calls from a mobile number demanding extortion money.

During verification of the video, the doctor recalled that on April 8, 2026, he had visited a café in Malad for some work and was using his laptop there to upload vaccination fitness certificates. Police suspect that the accused had secretly recorded the video during that time.

Realising that he was being blackmailed, the doctor informed his senior medical officers about the incident. Acting on their advice, he approached the Jogeshwari Police Station and lodged a complaint against the four accused.

Based on the complaint, the police registered an FIR for extortion and criminal intimidation. Officials said an investigation is underway and the accused will soon be arrested.
