Mumbai Crime: Homemaker Held for Aiding Rs 34 Lakh Gold Theft from Neighbour
Mumbai: In shocking turn of events a 36-year-old homemaker from a Charkop housing society has been arrested for allegedly plotting a theft at her neighbour’s home with the help of an acquaintance. As per the police report, woman made a duplicate keys and stole gold jewellery worth ₹34 lakh from a 43-year-old man. The incident came to light on April 13 when the complainant approached the Charkop police station, stating that the theft had taken place on the night of April 12.
According to TOI, during investigation there were no signs of forced entry, which led the suspect of possible use of a duplicate key. Police then analysed CCTV footage and mobile tower data, which pointed to the involvement of the 43-year-old accused, who had travelled to his hometown in Satara.
Satara police tracked down and detained the suspect, who confessed to the theft and disclosed the location of the stolen vault at a relative's home. Police recovered the vault and all the stolen gold ornaments. Interrogation revealed the involvement of a homemaker from the complainant's neighborhood, who knew the accused and provided access to the house, playing a key role in planning the theft. The investigation is ongoing.
