The Charkop Police have busted an online cricket betting racket allegedly operating under the cover of share market trading through mobile applications and websites. Three persons have been detained in connection with the case, and four mobile phones have been seized from their possession.

According to the police, evidence related to online cricket betting transactions was found during the examination of the seized mobile phones.

As per information shared by the Charkop Police, they had received a tip-off that some individuals were running online cricket betting activities through mobile apps and websites in the Ganesh Chowk area. Acting on the information, the police laid a trap and conducted a raid near Star Night Bar around midnight on May 9.

During the operation, the police apprehended Dhairya Deepak Chheda (29), Vineet Kishore Doshi (24), and Anubhav Devdat Naik (30).

Preliminary investigation revealed that cricket betting activities were being carried out through websites identified as “Ramexchange.com” and “Kalaghoda247.” Police officials found WhatsApp chats and screenshots indicating that the accused were facilitating online betting transactions and handling money transfers from customers.

Police further stated that accused Anubhav Naik claimed to be engaged in the share market business. However, betting-related financial transactions were also allegedly discovered on his mobile phone.

The police have seized four mobile phones during the raid, and the devices have been sent for forensic examination. Authorities are also probing the login IDs and financial transactions linked to the betting operation.

Officials suspect the involvement of more individuals in the racket, and further investigation is underway.

A case has been registered by the Charkop Police under the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act, 1887.
