Mumbai : After the Mulund metro slab collapse incident, a post of broken gutters in Juhu Tara Road has created the concern on social media about the safety of the citizens. In video shared by one of the user on X shows multiple damaged gutters covers can be seen.
Viral footage shared by user Sachin Patankar, shows at least four to five broken sections, posing a potential risk to pedestrians and motorists. Caption reads, he user questioned why no action had been taken despite the visible hazard and asked who would be held accountable if an accident were to occur due to the damaged infrastructure.
Patankar claims similar issues plague Santa Cruz, where unresolved complaints about broken gutters and other civic problems have persisted for months. He questions the use of taxpayer money, highlighting ongoing infrastructure failures despite residents fulfilling their civic duties. He illustrates the situation with the example of Juhu Tara Road, criticizing the lack of action from BMC officers and questioning accountability in case of accidents, echoing the sentiment of inaction in his own Santacruz East neighborhood for the past six months.
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation responded to the complaint and stated that they regretted the inconvenience caused and had alerted the concerned H/West ward (HE ward) officials to inspect and address the issue. The civic body assured that necessary action would be taken.However, the user responded to the BMC by saying that he gets a reply every time and yet action has never been taken.
