A sensational theft case involving ₹5.40 lakh has come to light at the Mumbai residence of BJP MP from Delhi’s North-East Lok Sabha constituency and noted singer Manoj Tiwari. The theft occurred at his flat located in Sundarban Apartment, Shastrinagar area of Andheri West, where a former employee was found to be behind the crime.

In this connection, Manoj Tiwari’s manager, Pramod Jogendra Pandey, lodged an FIR at Amboli Police Station. Acting on the complaint, the police have registered a case and arrested the accused, identified as Surendra kumar Deenanath Sharma, who had been dismissed from service two years ago.

According to the police, the accused was traced with the help of CCTV footage and had used a duplicate key to carry out the theft.

As per information provided by Amboli Police, the complainant Pramod Pandey has been working as Manoj Tiwari’s manager for the past 20 years. In his complaint, Pandey stated that ₹5.40 lakh kept in the bedroom of the house was stolen. Of this amount, ₹4.40 lakh had gone missing from a cupboard in June 2025, but the identity of the thief could not be ascertained at that time.

To identify the culprit, CCTV cameras were installed inside the house in December 2025. On January 15, 2026, at around 9 pm, a CCTV alert revealed former employee Surendra kumar Sharma committing the theft. The footage showed that the accused possessed duplicate keys to the house, bedroom and cupboard, which he used to gain entry and steal cash. On that night, the accused allegedly stole ₹1 lakh.

After being identified through CCTV footage, the accused confessed to the crime. The police were informed immediately, following which Amboli Police reached the spot and arrested him. The CCTV footage has been seized, and further investigation is underway.
