Mumbai Horror: Youth Arrested for Brutally Assaulting Woman on Road in Dahisar Over Suspected Relationship Dispute
Serious concerns over women’s safety have resurfaced in the city after a shocking incident came to light from the Dahisar area. A youth, allegedly driven by suspicion of betrayal in a love affair, brutally assaulted a young woman in broad daylight on a public road. The incident, captured on CCTV, went viral on social media, prompting swift action from the police.
According to police officials, the incident took place in front of Shastri Nagar Shiv Temple in Navagaon, Dahisar. Eyewitnesses and the viral CCTV footage show the accused initially engaged in a heated argument with the woman. Within seconds, the situation escalated, and the youth lost control, pushing the woman onto the road.
The video further reveals the accused’s violent behaviour as he repeatedly slapped, punched, and kicked the victim. Despite the woman’s attempts to defend herself, the assault continued unabated. The incident occurred openly on a busy road, while bystanders initially remained silent spectators.
Following the viral spread of the CCTV footage, pressure mounted on the police to act immediately. Responding swiftly, MHB Police arrested the accused, identified as Rahul Vilas Pandit (28), who works as a delivery boy.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the accused suspected the woman of cheating in a romantic relationship, which allegedly triggered the attack. According to police sources, the victim is a resident of Virar and had come to Dahisar for personal work when the accused intercepted her, leading to the altercation that turned violent.
The incident has sparked outrage among local residents. Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway. Officials stated that the probe is being conducted based on CCTV evidence, and the accused is currently being interrogated.
