Mumbai local train commuters will face disruption on the weekend on Sunday, January 18, as the Central and Western Railways have announced Sunday Megablocks. The maintenance work will affect the Central, Harbour, and Trans-harbour lines during the day, while Western Railway (WR) concludes a major 30-day infrastructure project involving the construction of a sixth line between Kandivali and Borivali.

Central Line

The Central Railway (CR) will carry out maintenance on the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus– Vidyavihar section. The block on both Up and Down slow lines will be effective from 10:55 AM to 3:55 PM.

Down Services: Slow trains departing CSMT Mumbai between 10:48 AM and 3:45 PM will be diverted to the Down fast line between CSMT and Vidyavihar. These trains will halt at Byculla, Parel, Dadar, Matunga, Sion, and Kurla before reverting to the slow track.

Up Services: Slow trains departing Ghatkopar between 10:19 AM and 3:52 PM will run on the Up fast line between Vidyavihar and CSMT, stopping at Kurla, Sion, Matunga, Dadar, Parel, and Byculla.

Harbour Line

Local train services between Vashi and Panvel will remain cancelled during the block period. Specifically, Up trains toward CSMT (departing Panvel from 10:33 AM to 3:49 PM) and Down trains toward Panvel/Belapur (departing CSMT from 9:45 AM to 3:12 PM) are affected. To assist commuters, special local trains will operate on the CSMT – Vashi section.

Trans-harbour Line

Services will only be operational between Thane and Vashi. Trains departing Panvel for Thane (11:02 AM to 3:53 PM) and trains from Thane to Panvel (10:01 AM to 3:20 PM) will remain suspended.

Western Line

Western Railway commuters face a full-day block as the 30-day infrastructure project for the 6th line construction between Kandivali and Borivali concludes.

According to Shri Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, major night blocks are scheduled for the nights of January 16/17 and 17/18. These will affect the Up fast line (11:15 PM to 3:15 AM) and the Down fast line (1:00 AM to 4:30 AM) between Borivali and Malad.

Due to ongoing speed restrictions and the suspension of the 5th line, several suburban services across the Western Line will remain cancelled throughout Sunday.
