Mumbai: Man Kidnapped, Robbed of ₹32.54 Lakh in Sion Koliwada, Case Registered
In a shocking case of abduction and robbery, a private company employee was allegedly kidnapped from the Sion Koliwada area and looted of cash and valuables worth ₹32.54 lakh. The Antop Hill Police have registered a case against four unidentified accused and launched an investigation.
The complainant, Shravan (45), works in private financial transactions company. On Tuesday, April 14, at around 3:30 pm, Shravan had left with ₹32.50 lakh in cash to deliver it to Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC).
While he was waiting for a Rapido taxi outside Seva Samiti Building in Sion Koliwada, two unidentified men were allegedly observing him suspiciously. Shortly after, a grey Scorpio vehicle arrived, and the accused forcibly pushed Shravan into the car. They checked his ID and mobile phone, pretending to be police officials, which made him cooperate out of fear.
However, the accused soon threatened to kill him and robbed him of ₹32.50 lakh in cash along with his mobile phone worth ₹4,000, taking the total value of the stolen property to ₹32.54 lakh.
After the robbery, the accused dropped Shravan near a bridge in the Ghatkopar area and fled the spot. Shockingly, the same Scorpio vehicle returned shortly after, allowing Shravan to note down its registration number.
In a state of panic, Shravan first informed his company manager about the incident and later lodged a formal complaint at Antop Hill Police Station on April 17.
The police have registered a case under sections 137(2), 3(5), and 309(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Sub-Inspector Sandeep Sonawalkar is further investigating the matter.
