Mumbai Local Sunday Megablock: Central Railway (CR) and Western Railway (WR) have planned a mega block on Sunday, March 29, 2026, on the Central, Western, and Trans‑Harbour lines in Mumbai, which will disrupt the schedules of multiple suburban local train services, causing delays, cancellations, and diversions. The weekend block is part of critical infrastructure work, including alignment track, bridge maintenance and overhead wire work.
Central Line
On the Central Line, a block will be in place on the slow lines between Matunga and Mulund railway stations from 11.05 am to 3.55 pm. During this period, slow line services departing from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) between 10.14 am and 3.32 pm will be diverted onto the down fast line between Matunga and Mulund stations, stopping at Sion, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Bhandup, and Mulund. Trains will then re‑divert to the slow line at Mulund and are expected to arrive at their destinations about 15 minutes late.

Similarly, up slow line services originating from Thane between 11.07 am and 3.51 pm will run on the up fast line between Mulund and Matunga stations, halting at Mulund, Bhandup, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar, Kurla, and Sion railway stations before returning to the slow line at Matunga, also arriving roughly 15 minutes behind schedule.
Trans‑Harbour
On the Trans‑Harbour line, the tracks between Thane and Vashi/Nerul will be fully blocked from 11.10 am to 4.10 pm in both directions. All up and down Trans‑Harbour services between Thane and Vashi/Nerul will be suspended during this window. Down trains for Vashi/Nerul/Panvel leaving Thane from 10.35 am to 4.07 pm and up trains for Thane from Panvel/Nerul/Vashi between 10.25 am and 4.09 pm will be cancelled.
21‑Hour Jumbo Block On Western Line
A 21‑hour “jumbo block” will be imposed between Kandivali and Borivali on the Western line on the slow lines from 10.30 pm on Saturday, March 28, to 7.30 pm on Sunday, March 29, with additional work on the down fast line from 1.00 am to 4.30 am on Sunday. The shutdown is being carried out to facilitate re‑girdering of Bridge No. 61, a major infrastructure upgrade.
During the slow line block, all slow line local trains will be diverted to run on the fast line between Goregaon and Borivali railway stations. During the shutdown, fast line block, no trains will stop at Ram Mandir, Malad and Kandivali stations in the down direction, as trains will run on the 5th line between Andheri and Borivali stations.
Platforms 1 and 2 at Borivali will remain closed during the block. Some suburban services will be cancelled or short‑terminated at Andheri and Goregaon, while all 15‑car slow services will run as fast trains between Andheri and Borivali in both directions.
No block on Harbour and Uran lines this Sunday.
