Mumbai: Major Fire At Naval Dockyard Area Near Gateway of India; No Casualties Reported (Watch Video)

Mumbai Fire:  A major fire broke out on  Thursday, February 12, 2026, at dumping areas near Survey Yard building in the Naval Dockyard in South Mumbai creating significant panic in surrounding area. This fire broke out  around 10:15 pm leaving the  layer of black smoke. While official statement on the incident is still awaited.  

A widely circulated video shows flames rising from the area. In video shared by local a thick layer of black smoke as seen rising into air. Following the incident, Firefighting teams rushed to the spot shortly and are working on to control blaze. 

Navy PRO Mehul Karnik stated that, "A fire broke out in one of the waste stockyards at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai late evening on 12 Feb 26. Fire brought under control in swift action by Naval fire tenders. No casualty has been reported. The cause of the fire is being investigated.

The cause behind the sudden fire is not known yet. Their are no reports of any injuries or casualties in this incident.  The Lion Gate is known as "Sher Dwaar" or the Asiatic Lion Gate, is a historic, 19th-century entrance to the Naval Dockyard.
