Mumbai: One Injured in Clash Between Two Groups in Malad East’s Santosh Nagar Market; Five Detained

At least five people were detained after a clash between two groups broke out in  Santosh Nagar market area in Malad East under the jurisdiction of Dindoshi police station, Mumbai on Sunday evening, April 5, according to the news agency ANI. 

According to reports, an argument between the two groups escalated into a scuffle and physical violence. Police rushed to the spot after receiving the information and attempted to disperse the crowd, but the situation intensified as some people ignored warnings.

Police reportedly used mild force to control the mob. A young man was seriously injured in the clash and was admitted to a local hospital for treatment. Officials said the situation is now under control, but security has been tightened in the area.

Reacting to the incident, former BJP corporator Vinod Mishra alleged that anti-social elements attacked the Bajrang Dal workers. He also claimed that police resorted to a lathi-charge while the injured were being taken to the hospital.

"Some miscreants attacked the Bajrang Dal workers. Unfortunately, when the injured were being taken to the hospital, the police resorted to lathi charge against them. Even a minor, below 18 years of age, was beaten by the police, leaving him seriously injured, and it is reported that he has suffered a fracture," Vinod Mishra told IANS.
