In a tragic road accident in Kandivali (West), a 49-year-old woman lost her life after being hit by a speeding two-wheeler near Poisar Gymkhana on Boraspada Road. The deceased has been identified as Rashmi Dilip Chalke, who was working as an accountant at a private firm. Kandivali Police have registered a case against the bike rider.

 

According to police sources, Rashmi Chalke was a resident of Mahavir Nagar and had been employed in private compy near Raghuleela Mall for the past 30 years. On the evening of April 14, at around 8 pm, she was returning home on foot after finishing work.

 

While crossing the road near Poisar Gymkhana, she was hit by a speeding KTM Duke motorcycle coming from Mahavir Nagar towards Raghuleela Mall. The impact of the collision was severe, leaving her critically injured. Local residents rushed her to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar (Shatabdi) Hospital, where doctors declared her dead before treatment.

 

The motorcycle rider, identified as Gaurav Vasant Patil (26), a resident of Borivali, was also injured in the accident and is currently undergoing treatment. At the time of the incident, he was accompanied by a female friend. Eyewitnesses stated that he was riding at high speed and in a negligent manner.

 

Rashmi’s husband, Dilip Chalke, is a retired employee of the municipal water supply department and currently works in real estate. The family was left devastated upon receiving news of the accident while waiting for Rashmi to return home.

 

Based on a complaint filed by Dilip Chalke, Kandivali Police have registered a case against the Accused under charges of causing death due to negligence and violating traffic rules. Further investigation is underway.
