Mumbai Traffic Alert: Roads Closed for Durga Puja Immersions and Thackeray & Shinde Dussehra Melavas – Check Alternate Routes
Mumbai is gearing up for a hectic Thursday, October 2, as the city hosts Durga Puja idol immersions, Dussehra festivities, and high-profile political rallies by Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde. While Shinde’s rally is scheduled at the NESCO Centre in Goregaon, Thackeray will address supporters at the traditional Shivaji Park in Dadar. Anticipating heavy traffic and large gatherings, the Mumbai Police has rolled out elaborate security and traffic arrangements. More than 16,500 constables, 2,900 officers, and personnel from special units will be on duty across the city to ensure smooth movement and crowd management.
Traffic Diversions Announced for Dadar Routes
Mumbai Police has announced traffic diversions around Dadar to avoid congestion due to rallies and immersion processions:
SVS Road (Siddhivinayak Mandir Jn. – Kapad Bazar Jn.): diverted via SK Bole Rd – Agar Bazar – Portuguese Church – Gokhale Rd.
Raja Badhe Chowk to Keluskar Rd (North): diverted via LJ Rd – Gokhale Rd – Steel Man Jn.
Lt Dilip Gupte Rd traffic: guided towards LJ Rd via Raja Badhe Jn.
Gadkari Chowk to Keluskar Rd (South): rerouted via M. Raut Marg.
Bal Govindas Marg (westbound): diverted to Manorama Nagarkar Marg.
Dadasaheb Rege Rd: traffic diverted to LJ Rd – Gokhale Rd – Ranade Rd.

No-Parking Zones Declared in Key Areas
To maintain smooth traffic flow, several important stretches have been designated as no-parking zones on Thursday:
SVS Road (Siddhivinayak Mandir Jn. – Yes Bank)
Keluskar Road (North & South), Dadar
MB Raut Road (Junction with SVS Rd), Dadar
Pandurang Naik Marg (MB Raut Rd), Dadar
Dadasaheb Rege Marg (Senapati Bapat Statue – Gadkari Jn.)
Lt Dilip Gupte Marg (Shivaji Park Gate No. 4 – Shitaladevi Temple Jn.)
NC Kelkar Marg (Gadkari Jn. – Hanuman Temple Jn.)
LJ Road (Raja Bade Jn. – Gadkari Jn.)
No-Entry Points and Alternative Routes
In addition to diversions, Mumbai Police has declared no-entry zones with alternate routes for motorists:
SVS Road (Siddhivinayak Mandir Jn. – Kapad Bazar Jn.): take SK Bole Rd – Agar Bazar – Portuguese Church – Gokhale Rd.
Raja Badhe Chowk – Keluskar Rd (North): use LJ Rd – Gokhale Rd – Steel Man Jn.
Lt Dilip Gupte Rd (Pandurang Naik Marg Jn. – South): proceed via Raja Badhe Jn. – LJ Rd.
Gadkari Chowk – Keluskar Rd (South): take MB Raut Marg.
