Mumbai Traffic Update: Heavy Vehicles Banned During Peak Hours in City; Check Timings
Mumbai Traffic Police has taken an important step to address the daily traffic jam problem. Heavy vehicles will no longer be allowed to enter the city during morning and evening rush hours. The decision is expected to make travel from South Mumbai to the suburbs faster.
According to the new rules issued by the Mumbai Police Commissionerate:
Morning: Entry into the city is prohibited from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
Evening: Heavy vehicles are banned from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Where Will the Rule Apply?
These restrictions will be enforced on all major roads, flyovers and expressways in Mumbai.

Relief for Daily Commuters
Heavy trucks and trailers often create long traffic jams during office hours, especially on narrow roads, leading to queues stretching several kilometres. The new decision is expected to provide major relief to bus, bike and car commuters and could save 20 to 30 minutes of travel time.
Essential service vehicles such as ambulances, fire brigade vehicles, milk vans, vegetable supply vehicles and water tankers have been exempted. All other commercial heavy vehicles must strictly follow the timings. Police have warned that violators will face heavy fines and possible vehicle impoundment.
