The long-awaited Ro-Ro ferry service between Mumbai and Vijaydurg in Maharashtra's Konkan region will begin ahead of Holi 2026 festival. Sindhudurg Guardian Minister Nitesh Rane officially launched the service by booking the first ticket for the M2M-operated vessel. The project follows sustained efforts by the minister to restart water transport in the region.
The first ferry will leave Mumbai Port at 8 am on March 1 and reach Vijaydurg at 3 pm. The return trip will depart from Vijaydurg at 12 pm on March 2 and arrive in Mumbai at 7 pm. A total of 16 trips are scheduled throughout March this year.

Services from Mumbai will operate on March 1, 4, 7, 11, 14, 18 and 21 and 25 March. Return services from Vijaydurg to Mumbai will run on March 2, 5, 8, 12, 15, 19, 22 and 26 March.

Water transport on the Mumbai–Konkan route had previously been suspended after a ship accident. After assuming charge of the Port Development Department, Rane pursued the revival of passenger water services with the Central Government. Officials believe the new service will help promote tourism and benefit the local economy by offering passengers a scenic and comfortable travel experience along the Konkan coastline.

Proposed ticket prices for the Mumbai–Vijaydurg Ro-Ro service are as follows: Economy at Rs 2,500, Premium Economy at Rs 4,000, two-wheelers at Rs 1,000, cycles at Rs 600 and four-wheelers at Rs 6,000.
