The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced 5% water cut in Mumbai and its suburbs from Monday, May 20 to May 27, for the scheduled water tunnel maintenance work. According to the Mid-Day report, the work will involve charging, flushing, chlorination, and dichlorination of Water Tunnel number 1 (AMT-1) and Water Tunnel number 2 (AMT-2). This crucial tunnel plays an important role in supplying water to Mumbai.

Water Tunnel number 1 supplies water from Amar Mahal (Hegdewar Garden) to Wadala (Pratiksha Nagar) and further to Parel (Sadakant Dhavan Garden), while Water Tunnel number 2 runs from Amar Mahal to the Trombay Low-Level and High-Level Reservoirs, reported Mid-Day.
Areas To Be Affected
Areas in the Eastern Suburbs of Mumbai will face 5% water cut, including L (Kurla East), M East, M West, N, S, and T wards. Civic body argue citizens to use water judiciously and cooperate with the administration during the maintenance period.
