The economic capital of India can expect intermittent rains throughout the day, with wind speeds reaching up to 28.1 kilometres per hour and humidity levels at 75%.

The forecast for the upcoming days indicates light to moderate rainfall with cloudy skies. Similar weather is predicted for June 13 (Friday) and 14 (Saturday). However, rainfall activity is likely to increase from June 15 and 16. On June 17, lighter and patchy rains will bring relief to citizens.

IMD scientist Sushma Nair said, "Monsoon made its onset when conditions were favourable. At that time, the MJO (Madden-Julian Oscillation) was in a very favourable phase. Rossby waves and other factors that support convection and monsoon advancement were also present, which led to its onset over Mumbai. However, as you may know, the monsoon progresses in pulses. We are now expecting the next pulse and a revival of the monsoon between June 12 and June 16."

Tide Timings

The city is set to experience notable tidal fluctuations over the next 24 hours, according to the latest update from civic authorities. Today’s high tide is expected at 12:56 pm, with sea levels reaching 4.31 meters. Another high tide is forecast for the early hours of tomorrow, at 12:40 am, when the water will rise to 3.67 meters.

Low tide today will occur at 7:01 pm, with the sea receding to 1.99 meters. Tomorrow morning, at 6:27 am, the tide will drop further to 0.65 meters. Residents, especially those in coastal and low-lying areas, are advised to remain cautious during these periods, as high tides can increase the risk of waterlogging.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red and orange alerts for several districts of Maharashtra. The coastal region in Kokan is under red alert, expecting heavy to very heavy rainfall today. The IMD has issued orange alerts in the centre. The Vidharbha and Marathwada regions of Maharashtra are anticipated to receive heavy to moderate rainfall today. The IMD has anticipated heavy rains and cloudy weather throughout the week.
