Mumbai Weather Update: Temperature To Cross 36 Degrees Celsius Today, Yellow Alert in Thane
Hot days to remain in Mumbai this week with daytime temperature likely to cross 36 degrees Celsius, according to AccuWeather. Mumbaikars woke up with sticky humidity and clear skies on Monday morning, May 11. According to the forecast for the weekend, occasional clouds and sea breeze during the evening hours may give some relief.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted a dry day with a green alert indicating no weather threat in the city and its suburbs, while hot and humid conditions are likely in isolated pockets of Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri and other districts.
Air quality continued to remain in the "satisfactory" category in Mumbai on Monday, with the city recording an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 75, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board's Sameer App. Several air quality monitoring stations across the city also reported AQI levels within the satisfactory range.
According to IMD, light to moderate unseasonal rains with thundershowers are likely in some parts of Konkan, West Maharashtra and North Maharashtra. Gusty winds of 30 to 40 kmph are likely at some places. Farmers have been advised to take proper care of their crops and harvest agricultural produce.
On the other hand, the heat wave is expected to continue in Vidarbha and Marathwada. Temperatures are likely to touch 42 to 45 degrees Celsius in several districts, including Nagpur, Akola, Amravati, Chandrapur, Parbhani, Latur and Beed. Therefore, a heat warning has been issued for these areas.
