Mumbai: Woman Dies by Suicide in Mankhurd, Accuses Partner of Betrayal in Final Video Message
A shocking incident has come to light from the Mankhurd area, where a woman allegedly died by suicide after recording an emotional video on her mobile phone in which she accused her partner of betrayal. Following the incident, Mankhurd Police registered a case against her second husband for allegedly abetting suicide.
According to police sources, the deceased woman had been in a relationship with the accused, Anil Kumar Gupta alias Raju Pandit, for nearly eight to nine years. The couple had reportedly been living together for several years. However, frequent disputes allegedly took place between them due to the accused's alcohol addiction.
The complaint further alleges that the accused had pawned the woman’s jewellery, which she had purchased through her hard-earned savings, to buy a vehicle. It has also been alleged that he frequently assaulted and abused her over monetary issues.
On May 10, the woman allegedly died by suicide by hanging herself at her residence. Following the incident, her relatives checked her mobile phone and discovered a video recorded before her death.
In the video, the woman, appearing emotionally distressed, allegedly made serious accusations against Raju Pandit, stating that he had pawned her jewellery, chain and mangalsutra and held him responsible for her condition.
After the incident, the woman’s brother handed over the mobile phone to the police. Following examination of the video and collection of evidence, Mankhurd Police registered a case against Anil Kumar Gupta alias Raju Pandit under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for abetment of suicide. Further investigation is underway.
